My worst fear came true

Sheri loves to snuggle up with us on our bed, so she will usually sleep with mommy on the bed in the day time. Usually, she does not move around too much on the bed in the daytime, even though she does roll around in her crib when she sleeps at night. Perhaps, because of this, mommy was too complacent and thought that it was safe to leave her on the bed in the daytime. Somehow, it did not occur to mommy that baby Sheri is growing up everyday and she is getting more agile in her movements as each day passes. This morning, I was shocked to find her legs dangling out of the bed when I went to the bedroom to pick her up from her morning nap. I told daddy about it when he came back for lunch and still reminded ourselves that we must keep a watchful eye on her as she may just roll off from the bed since she is more mobile nowadays. Guess what? My worst fear came true later in the evening. As usual, she fell soundly asleep in mommy's arm in the evening before dinner time, so mommy left her to sleep on the bed while she started preparing apple puree for her in the kitchen. Somehow, what happened in the morning seemed to slip mommy's mind at that moment. A few minutes later, I heard baby Sheri's cries. By the time I ran to the bedroom, it was too late. She had fallen down from the bed and was crying franctically on the floor. I quickly picked her up from the floor and tried to soothe her while at the same time, checking for any bruises on her head. Poor baby Sheri! Even though our floor is carpeted, it must have been quite a bad fall for her since our bed is much higher than the normal bed. It's all mommy's fault. I shouldn't have left her sleeping alone on the bed. I feel so remorseful after that. I wish that I could have stayed with her when she was taking her afternoon nap on our bed. Out of panic, I quickly called daddy in his office and he came home immediately to check on baby Sheri. We agreed that we should observe her carefully to check for any symptoms that may arise as a result of the fall. So far, she is behaving normally and her appetite is as good as ever. From now onwards, I guess I have to be more vigilant and should not assume that she will always behave the same way as the day before. After all, she is a growing baby and is increasing her mobility everyday.
