Yesterday, we finally received Sheri's certificate of Singapore citizenship from the Singapore Consulate in New York. Now, she is officially a Singapore citizen by descent, just in time for the coming Singapore's National Day on 9th August. Coincidentally, her US passport also arrived yesterday. At first, daddy and mommy were worried that we might not receive her passport in time because of the huge backlog in the passport application. With her passport in hand now, we can finally bring her home if we want to. What a relief!
Finally, I have a passport to travel!
Actually, we never expected that our child will be born as an American citizen. I was still telling daddy yesterday night that Sheri is destined to be born in the States despite the fact that she was conceived in Canada and diagnosed in Singapore. Thinking back, the trip back to Canada from Singapore was arduous as mommy had to endure the morning sickness, which makes the long hours of flight back to Canada even more unbearable. I could still remember how miserable I felt when I looked at the snow-covered mountains in Alaska during the transit. It was indeed an unforgettable experience.
